Marl es una ciudad/municipalidad del distrito de Recklinghausen, en Renania del Norte-Westfalia, Alemania. Está situado cerca del canal Wesel-Datteln, aproximadamente a 10 km al noroeste de Recklinghausen. Tiene alrededor de 90.000 habitantes.
La ciudad colinda[1] en el norte con los bosques del Haard y con el parque natural Hohe Mark. La ciudad forma una transición entre la cuenca industrial del Ruhr y la población rural de Münsterland. La frontera norte de la ya citada ciudad coincide casi completamente con el curso del río Lippe. Aproximadamente 60% del total de su área son campos, bosques, arroyos, parques y otros espacios verdes.
