El museo está ubicado en la central eléctrica de Heimbach desde 1989, que aún está en funcionamiento. El edificio Art Nouveau, completamente conservado, es único en Europa.
En la propia central eléctrica se pueden ver las viejas griferías de bronce junto a las turbinas. En el edificio adyacente se exhiben dispositivos eléctricos desde principios del siglo XX. Desde el calientabiberones hasta el encendedor de cigarrillos, aquí se encuentran electrodomésticos históricos de todo tipo.
