Harskamp es el lugar donde se encuentra el Campo de Tiro de Infantería Harskamp, que se inauguró el 1 de septiembre de 1899. Aquí se entrenan anualmente entre 110,000 y 140,000 tiradores. También hay varios museos de defensa: el Museo de la Infantería, el museo del Campo de Tiro de Infantería, la colección histórica de la Reserva Nacional y el museo de ferrocarriles de vía estrecha.
El pueblo es especialmente conocido por el turismo y la presencia de campings y parques recreativos debido a su ubicación tranquila en el borde de la Veluwe. Una atracción famosa es la Passiflorahoeve, una granja de cuidado que gestiona la Colección Nacional de Plantas de Passiflora. También es un pueblo muy cristiano: en las elecciones municipales de 2006, el SGP obtuvo aquí el 50.26% de los votos, y los tres partidos cristianos juntos superaron las tres cuartas partes. El pueblo tiene una iglesia reformada y una iglesia gereformeada.
