Mechelen es una aldea neerlandesa en el sur de Limburgo. Forma parte del municipio de Gulpen-Wittem. En 2021, Mechelen y sus alrededores contaban con aproximadamente 1.785 habitantes. En 1133 aparece el nombre de Mechluns, en el siglo XIV Mechlen, en 1842 Mechelen y se supone que proviene del germánico *magalunas que significa "en el gran, poderoso lugar" y se llama así por el Bosque de Malens.
