La iglesia parroquial de Samodães es una iglesia primitiva, cuyos orígenes se remontan al siglo IX.
Samodães se enorgullece de su estatus actual. Es fruto de la reconstrucción de la primera iglesia , obra iniciada en 1702 por el Maestro Domingos Ferreira. El tronco y el coro están enmarcados por fuertes claves esculpidas en frontones (Vergílio Correia, "Diário de Coimbra"). Posee tallas de gran expresión artística del siglo XVIII. Un bello revestimiento de estatuas doradas y policromadas cubre las partes altas del coro y de la nave, dispuestas en dos amplias arcadas, que albergan la tribuna del altar mayor, el arco triunfal y los altares laterales, (Vergílio Correia, "Diário de Coimbra").
