Fondé selon la tradition, en 1249 par Marguerite de Constantinople. Les revenus étaient obtenus grâce au "droit de jauge" ou de mesurage des vins. Le Père Jaugeur contrôlait avec la jauge le contenu des tonneaux de vins importés dans le port de Damme. Dans le Musée de l'Hôpital St-Jean vous trouvez une riche collection d'objets religieux, des meubles de style gothique et de style renaissance, des tableaux, des poteries et des pierres tombales. Chapelle de style baroque.
