Cet arboretum a été planté en 1937 par Robert Lenoir, un dendrologue passionné. Il est considéré comme le principal en Wallonie grâce à la diversité et à la rareté des espèces et des variétés. La collection compte actuellement 4 200 plantes provenant du monde entier. Le domaine de 40 ha s'étend le long de l'Ourthe et sur les forêts d'Arlogne. La Région wallonne y réunit deux collections de référence : la famille des sorbiers (sorbus) et la famille des fusains (euonymus). L'arboretum fait partie du patrimoine public civil wallon.
