La Chefna est un affluent de l’Amblève. Elle prend sa source à Ville-au-Bois et coule près de la Ferme de Quarreux.
Dans le passé, les gens cherchaient de l’or dans l’eau de la rivière. Sur la rive droite se trouvent les puits, une mine d’or primitive du XIXe siècle, mais dont on ne voit pas grand-chose aujourd’hui. On a déjà trouvé de l’or, mais c’était une petite quantité. Le rendement était de 0,40 gramme d’or par tonne de roche. Pourtant, à la fin du 19e siècle, un propriétaire serait « presque » devenu millionnaire.
