La chapelle Marie-Madeleine en face de la J.B. Cardijnstraat 30 a été construite en 1858. Elle remplace la chapelle départementale de Mekingen, l’une des neuf églises filles de l’église Saint-Pierre disparue vers 1840. Au-dessus de la porte se trouve le texte suivant : « Cette chapelle a été construite en l’honneur de Marie-Madeleine par les habitants de Mekingen en 1858 ». La chapelle elle-même possède plusieurs statues, dont celle de Marie-Madeleine. Sainte Marie-Madeleine est invoquée contre la peste, les verrues et les ulcères.
La chapelle a été rénovée en 2016 à l’initiative du conseil culturel.
