Le monastère de Weißenstein était un chapitre collégial fondé vers 1137, devenu un monastère d'Augustins en 1145, avant 1184 un monastère de moines et de nonnes, et avant 1193 un monastère exclusivement de nonnes près de Kassel. Il était placé sous la protection du siège épiscopal de Mayence et du saint Martin. Avant sa dissolution, des moines étaient de nouveau entrés dans le monastère. Il se trouvait à l'emplacement de l'actuel château de Wilhelmshöhe.
