Sens [sɑ̃s] est une commune française, chef-lieu d'arrondissement, située à 100 km au sud-est de Paris, dans le département de l'Yonne, en région Bourgogne-Franche-Comté.Au dernier recensement de 2019, la commune comptait 26 688 habitants. Ses habitants sont appelés les Sénonais. En 2012, l'agglomération, au sens géographique et statistique, comptait 36 623 habitants et l'aire urbaine de Sens 62 177 habitants. Sens est la seule ville de l'Yonne à gagner des habitants entre 2011 et 2016, 760 personnes l'ont rejointe.
