Sur la colline appelée Kanounenhiwwel dans la ville de Luxembourg se dresse le monument national « Solidarité luxembourgeoise ». Il a été érigé en mémoire des morts de la Seconde Guerre mondiale et pour commémorer la résistance et la solidarité du peuple luxembourgeois contre l'occupation allemande. La cour pavée symbolise les prisons, les camps de concentration et les casernes. Une simple pierre brute dans la chapelle représente les victimes de la guerre. Devant le monument, une flamme éternelle brûle.
