Le Village des jeunes a été fondé par les Sœurs Dominicaines de Bethanië et a été mis en service en 1957. L'inauguration officielle, en présence de la princesse Beatrix de l'époque, a eu lieu en 1960. Il s'agissait de l'accueil de jeunes placés en dehors de leur foyer.
En 1959, le couvent a été achevé. Les sœurs venaient de Magdalenahof à Exaten près de Baexem, où une institution de soins existait déjà pour les enfants de condamnés NSB et d'autres criminels de guerre. À partir de 1983, la direction a été confiée à des laïcs et en 1988, elle a fusionné avec la Maison Clara Fey à Roermond.
