"Tato" "pani" signifie littéralement "printemps chaud".
C'est pourquoi Tatopani est mieux connu. C'était une attraction touristique majeure jusqu'aux années 1980. Aujourd'hui, il n'est pas recommandé de se rendre à Tatopani spécifiquement pour les sources chaudes (il y en a 2 : Tatopani et Paudwar) , mais ceux qui viennent sur le circuit des Annapurna doivent les visiter.
De là, le circuit des Annapurna monte jusqu'à Ghorepani et Poon Hill ou plus bas jusqu'à Beni. Il y a beaucoup de tourisme ici.
Le Kali Ghandaki est très étroit à partir d'ici et la gorge est donc profonde et impressionnante.
En 2015 , Tatopani a également été touchée par le tremblement de terre qui a tué près de 9 000 personnes.
