Questo busto fu eretto in memoria del poeta majorero Domingo Juan Manrique (1869-1934) su iniziativa del giornalista Leoncio Rodríguez González.
Fu realizzato dallo scultore Miguel Márquez Peñate e inaugurato nella Plaza del Adelantado il 27 gennaio 1952.
Domingo Juan Manrique è stato uno scrittore delle Canarie , nato a San Cristóbal de La Laguna nel 1869 e morto a Madrid nel 1934.
Domingo Juan Manrique era un insegnante di calligrafia presso l'Istituto delle Isole Canarie. Era brutto e sentimentale e partecipava a tutti i concorsi di poesia delle isole. La poesia El Mencey de Abona è una delle sue opere più importanti.
