Durante l'inizio delle Feste di Gand nel 1914, la grande campana del Belfort scoppiò. Fu allora chiamata Triomfante. Quella campana aveva quasi 2 & 1/2 secoli (fusa nel 1670 dal famoso fonditore di campane Hemony).
L'anno successivo Hemony fuse tre grandi campane, la più grande delle quali fu chiamata Triomfante. Dal 1913 quella campana è alimentata elettricamente e scoppiò durante l'inizio delle Feste di Gand nel 1914.
Fu posta a riposo ai piedi del belfort. Nel 1948 fu inaugurata una nuova campana chiamata Roeland.
Alla fine del 2003 la Triomfante subì una completa restaurazione, con l'intento di rimetterla nella torre e integrarla nel carillon Hemony.
L'attuale campana Roeland del 1948 finì quindi in Emile Braunplein.
