All'estremo punto del West-Vlaanderen, nel cuore di 'Le Plat Pays', nel cuore della regione del luppolo, si produce birra che stimola l'immaginazione di molti amanti della birra. Nel villaggio poetico di Watou, dal 1946 vengono prodotti i nobili birrifici St. Bernardus: birre abbaziali scure e chiare ad alta fermentazione. Negli ultimi anni, il birrificio ha conosciuto una enorme espansione ed è ormai conosciuto in tutto il mondo per le sue birre autentiche e di qualità.
Le visite guidate possono essere svolte in olandese, francese o inglese. È richiesto un minimo di 15 persone, ma gruppi più piccoli o visitatori individuali possono anche unirsi a visite già programmate. Una visita guidata, comprensiva di degustazione e pacchetto regalo, dura circa 90 minuti e costa € 12,50 a persona.
