Su Boulevard de la Gare Pascal Verbeken scrive nel suo libro Grand Central Belge quanto segue: "Mariembourg viveva della stazione. Molti abitanti erano cheminot, ferrovieri. La Rue de la Gare (ndr. Boulevard de la Gard) non contava durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale alcuna abitazione privata, solo negozi che dipendevano dal passaggio della stazione. Oggi non è rimasto alcun negozio."
