Il soprannome 'Denderhoutemse Turfboeren' risale alla metà del 19° secolo. Nelle valli paludose del Wildebeek e del Paardenbeek si estraeva torba. I pezzi di resti vegetali semi-decomposti (torba) venivano essiccati. I contadini della torba vendevano poi questo come combustibile economico. Questo sentiero corre vicino al confine di Ninove verso Herlinckhove.
