Il comune di Vlezenbeek appartiene a Sint-Pieters-Leeuw dal 1 gennaio 1977 e nel 2003 contava 3312 abitanti. Il nome del luogo ha avuto nel corso dei secoli diverse modalità di scrittura come 'Vlesembeca (1211), Vlesenbeke (1280), Vlazenbeke e Vlezembeek (15° secolo), ma si riferisce sempre al 'Vleze'. Questo ruscello ha origine alla Merselborre, dopodiché si snoda attraverso il centro abitato, separa il comune fuso in 2 parti distintive e sfocia nel Zobbroekbeek. Vlezenbeek e Sint-Pieters-Leeuw hanno una lunga e comune storia. Inizialmente entrambi i comuni appartenevano al dominio di Leeuw, successivamente al 'Paese di Gaasbeek'. Nel 1687, però, Sint-Pieters-Leeuw passò in mano a Jan Karel Roose. Nell'ultimo trimestre del 17° secolo, Vlezenbeek divenne L'Escornet e Louis-Alexander Schockaert. Vlezenbeek rimase, fino alla fine dell'Ancien Régime, strettamente legato a Gaasbeek. Fin dal Medioevo era gestito in modo agricolo ed era abitato da proprietari terrieri e braccianti o 'cossaeten'. Ancora oggi i frutteti, le serre di fragole e le fattorie notevoli sono i punti di forza del nostro comune rurale. Vlezenbeek si trova tra Anderlecht e Gaasbeek e può essere descritto come 'portale verde del Pajottenland'.
