Lotte è un comune nella regione westfalia di Tecklenburger Land. Nella sua attuale estensione, il comune è nato il 1° gennaio 1975 dall'ufficio di Lotte, al quale appartenevano i comuni autonomi di Lotte e Wersen. A livello regionale, il comune è conosciuto soprattutto per l'incrocio autostradale Lotte/Osnabrück e per il precedente club calcistico di terza divisione Sportfreunde Lotte. Grazie alla sua posizione al confine con la grande città bassa sassone di Osnabrück, il comune fa parte della sua area metropolitana.
