Il Museo Kaiser-Wilhelm è l'edificio principale dei musei d'arte di Krefeld, il cui focus è sull'arte della seconda metà del 20° secolo. L'edificio è stato inaugurato nel 1899 ed è protetto come monumento architettonico della città di Krefeld.
Già nel 1872 l'architetto di Krefeld Hugo Koch propose di erigere un museo anziché una statua per l'imperatore Guglielmo I. Tuttavia, il momento non era ancora maturo per tali idee, e così, durante la vita dell'imperatore, venne realizzata una scultura, che fu svelata il 27 giugno 1880 nel giardino della città in via St.-Anton. Durante la Seconda Guerra Mondiale, le bombe distrussero la scultura in bronzo.
