La Grotta di Hohlstein si trova nella Foresta di Teutoburgo vicino a Kohlstädt, nel distretto di Lippe del Nord Reno-Westfalia ed è un'area protetta e un sito di Interesse comunitario (Natura 2000).
Essendo una delle grotte più importanti della Ostwestfalen nel sistema di fenditure dei gessi dell'era Cretaceo superiore, è stata già esplorata nel 1779. Oggi, l'accesso al pubblico è vietato, salvo poche eccezioni, poiché è designata come monumento naturale ed è un rifugio invernale per i pipistrelli.
