I Pirenei sono una catena montuosa situata a nord della penisola iberica che attraversa tutto l'istmo che unisce la penisola con il resto d'Europa. Si estendono dal Mar Mediterraneo, al Cap de Creus, a est, fino al mare Cantabrico, al golfo di Biscaglia, a ovest. A sud della catena montuosa si trova la depressione dell'Ebro, e a nord quella della Garonna.
