L'incidente ferroviario di Versailles dell'8 maggio 1842 presso Meudon è uno dei disastri più gravi nel traffico ferroviario del XIX secolo. Dopo una rottura dell'asse della locomotiva di testa di un treno passeggeri, la seconda locomotiva e le seguenti carrozze si scontrarono con la caldaia esplosa e presero fuoco. Almeno 50 persone morirono.
