In passato, l'acqua veniva raccolta in questa struttura aperta a forma di casa rivestita di bugnato, probabilmente proveniente dalle cave di Charmiron o di Futtes. Costruito nella prima metà del XIX secolo, questo tipo di piccolo edificio era talvolta sormontato sul colmo da una croce in pietra. L'acqua confluiva poi nel lavatoio, ora chiuso, accanto alla fontana.
