Il villaggio è stato menzionato per la prima volta nel 1281 come Gerslach e significa fossato conico. Un tempo aveva una chiesa, ma fu demolita nel 1735, e rimane solo il campanile. Nel 1840, ospitava 146 persone. Prima del 1934, Gersloot faceva parte del comune di Aengwirden.
