La regolazione del livello dell'acqua nella Nuova Linea d'Acqua Olandese richiese talvolta l'impiego di pompe a vapore o a motore. In diversi luoghi sono state quindi costruite pompe per questo scopo: a volte per sollevare il livello dell'acqua, ma anche per poterlo abbassare, in particolare dopo la fine di eventuali inondazioni. Il sistema di inondazione per la Nuova Linea d'Acqua Olandese presso la Meerdijk consiste nella pompa De Oude Horn con una chiusa di ingresso e di sfioro.
La precedente pompa di polder De Oude Horn fu messa in funzione nel 1859 come pompa a vapore. La forma principale della pompa è in gran parte nello stato originale, ma la meccanica che azionava la pompa è scomparsa. L'edificio è in uso dal 1978 come soffiatura del vetro ed è stato recentemente restaurato.
