Il Keelven è un'area naturale con foreste di pini, torbiere e brughiera. Nell'area sono stati tracciati diversi percorsi di camminata, che variano da 4 a 9 km. Questi sono accessibili dal parcheggio vicino al Keelven sulla Provincialeweg a Someren-Heeze. Ci sono anche piste ciclabili che attraversano l'area (parte della rete di punti di cicloturismo). Inoltre, ci sono percorsi per mountain bike segnalati nell'area.
Dal 2017, presso il parcheggio del Keelven è presente anche un locale per la ristorazione: De Soete Inval Vennenhorst.
Nell'area pascolano anche Highlander scozzesi, che aiutano a mantenere la brughiera libera dalla vegetazione fitta.
