La piccola cappella di São Bentinho è un grazioso piccolo santuario dedicato a San Benedetto.
Nella cappella del XVIII secolo è appeso un bellissimo dipinto raffigurante San Benedetto, San Bernardo e la Madonna della Luce. Capela de São Bentinho offre un ambiente intimo per praticare la propria fede.
La storia di questa cappella è direttamente legata all'Ospedale São Marcos, un importante centro sanitario per gli abitanti di Braga e di molte altre zone del Minho.
La maggior parte dei pazienti dell'ospedale, o qualcuno a loro vicino, si recava in questa cappella per chiedere aiuto o per ringraziare di essere tornati a casa.
San Benedetto, creatore dell'Ordine dei Benedettini a Montecasino, nel 529, nella penisola italiana, fu anche il fondatore della Regola di San Benedetto, una delle regole originarie della vita monastica. Nel 1964 fu considerato da Papa Paolo VI (1963-1978) come patrono d'Europa.
