La caratteristica più sorprendente di questa piazza è il grande cartello Braga , un posto popolare per i selfie. Ma ammira anche la splendida architettura mentre sei qui.
Subito dietro il cartello si trova la Igreja de São Marcos (Chiesa di San Marco), caratterizzata dalla facciata curva.
All'architetto di Braga Carlos Amarante sono attribuite numerose opere emblematiche dell'architettura nazionale del XVIII e XIX secolo, segnate dal passaggio dal barocco al neoclassico. Tra queste, il Santuario di Bom Jesus do Monte , dichiarato Patrimonio dell'umanità dall'UNESCO nel 2019, la Chiesa della Trindade a Porto (dove fu sepolto) e il Palazzo Brejoeira a Monção.
L'elenco comprende anche l' ex ospedale e la chiesa di São Marcos, costruiti nella piazza in cui oggi l'ingegnere dà il suo nome, nel cuore di Braga.
