Deze twee begraafplaatsen in Zonnebeke vormen één geheel. Het kleine Polygon Wood Cemetery ontstond al tijdens WO I. De oorlogsomstandigheden gaven de begraafplaats een onregelmatig grondplan. Buttes New British Cemetery ligt in het verlengde van Polygon Wood Cemetery. Deze grotere begraafplaats werd pas na de Eerste Wereldoorlog aangelegd. Lichamen van gesneuvelde soldaten uit de omgeving van Zonnebeke kregen hier hun graf. 80% zijn onbekende soldaten. Je vindt er ook een gedenkteken voor de Australische en Nieuw-Zeelandse soldaten die in en rond het Polygoonbos het leven lieten.
