Het architectenduo Gijs Van Vaerenbergh ontwierp een windmolen uit gewapend staal, geïnspireerd op de lijntekeningen van Bruegel. In enkele schilderijen en gravures van Pieter Bruegel speelt de molen een belangrijke rol, zoals op de Kruisdraging uit 1568. De lichte constructie verbeeldt de vroegere relatie tussen het productieve landschap en het dorpse karakter dat reeds lang verdwenen is. Het werk staat in een open landschap en is van ver zichtbaar.
