Gerresheim is een stadsdeel van Düsseldorf en ligt in stadsdistrict 7 in het oosten van de stad aan de randhoogten van het Nijverbergse land. De voorheen zelfstandige stad is een van de vier stedelijke nederzettingen die zich in de middeleeuwen op het huidige Düsseldorf stadsgebied hebben ontwikkeld. De oorsprongen van de plaats liggen in een vrouwensticht uit de 9e eeuw. De naam van de plaats werd dankzij de daar – voorheen – gevestigde Gerresheimer glasfabriek buiten Duitsland bekend. In 1909 werd Gerresheim bij Düsseldorf ingelijfd; de plaats heeft het karakter van een zelfstandige kleine stad behouden. Eind december 2016 had het stadsdeel 29.585 inwoners en een oppervlakte van 6,74 vierkante kilometer.
