Avilés is een stad in Asturië, Spanje. Avilés is samen met Oviedo en Gijón een van de belangrijkste steden in het Vorstendom Asturië. De stad bevindt zich op het vlakste land in de gemeente, gedeeltelijk op een land dat eigendom was van de zee, omringd door kleine uitstulpingen, die allemaal een hoogte van minder dan 140 meter hebben. Gelegen in de estuarium van Avilés, in het Noord-Centrale gebied van de Asturiaanse kust, ten westen van de Kaap Peñas, bevindt zich de nationale haven.
