Poble Espanyol betekent ‘Spaans dorp’. Een dorp als dit zult u overigens nergens in Spanje aantreffen want in dit openluchtmuseum zijn bouwstijlen uit heel Spanje gecombineerd. Het werd gebouwd voor de Wereldtentoonstelling van 1929 en het was de bedoeling dit dorp na afloop van de expositie weer af te breken. Zover is het dus nooit gekomen. Er zijn gebouwen te zien uit onder meer Andalusië, Castilla y Leon, Navarra, Baskenland en uiteraard Catalonië. U vindt er verder een romaans klooster, waarvoor verscheidene echte Catalaanse kloosters model stonden. In de meeste gebouwen zijn winkels en restaurants ondergebracht. Verder zijn er demonstraties van oude ambachten
