Caen is een Franse gemeente, gelegen in het departement Calvados en de regio Normandië, vlakbij de oevers van de rivier Orne. In 1999 had het 114.007 inwoners. Zijn belang is te danken aan de nabijheid van ijzerafzettingen, die het tot een industriële kern hebben gemaakt. Het Orne-kanaal verbindt het met zijn haven in Ouistreham.
