Moulsford spoorwegstation was gelegen aan de oorspronkelijke route van de Great Western Railway, en was een van de drie tussenstations die werden gebouwd toen de lijn werd verlengd van Reading naar Steventon in 1840.
De Great Western Railway werd in fasen gebouwd en geopend. Het was geopend tot aan Reading op 30 maart 1840; op 1 juni 1840 werd het geopend naar Steventon, met drie tussenstations, waarvan de meest noordelijke Wallingford Road was; het werd mogelijk oorspronkelijk Moulsford genoemd en hernoemd in december 1840.
