De Porta Palermo is een achtiende eeuwse historische stadspoort die toegang geeft tot het centrum van de stad langs de Corso VI Aprile. Ze is gelegen aan de Piazza Bagolino, die een weids zicht over de golf van Castellamare aanbiedt.
In de poort zijn 2 bronzen bas-reliëfs van de uit Alcamo afkomstige beeldhouwer Nicola Rubino verwerkt (1961). "Il poeta Cielo d'Alcamo alla corte di Federico II" e la "Vita attiva di Alcamo" ( 'De dichter Cielo d'Alcamo aan het hof van Federico II' en het 'Actieve leven van Alcamo") zijn landelijke taferelen in de stijl van de Romeinse school, met symbolische figuren. Nicola Rubino is ongetwijfeld een van de belangrijkste vertegenwoordigers van de Italiaanse kunst van de twintigste eeuw.
