Heythuysen ) is een kerkdorp in de Nederlandse provincie Limburg, gemeente Leudal met ruim 6.545 inwoners. De naam Heythuysen is afkomstig van 'heidehuizen', welke naam voor zichzelf spreekt. De lokale bevolking gebruikt als bijnaam voor Heythuysen de flatteuze term 'Klein Paries' .Heythuysen is in de vroege middeleeuwen ontstaan op een zandrug tussen de Bevelandse Beek en de Tungelroyse Beek. Het behoorde in 1243 tot het Land van Horn, werd later eigendom van het Prinsbisdom Luik, en in 1680 werd het een zelfstandige heerlijkheid, in de Franse tijd werd het een gemeente.
