Deze kapel is na de 2e WO opgericht.
Omdat de Tweede Wereldoorlog voor de Ettense bevolking gelukkig zonder ernstige materiële schade was verlopen, wilde men als blijk van dank een Mariakapel oprichten.
Het brandweerhuisje aan de Markt, dat leeg was komen staan toen de brandweer een beter onderkomen had gevonden, bleek hiervoor geschikt en in 1952 werd het door de gemeente in erfpacht als kapel afgestaan.
