Het meest opvallende kenmerk van dit plein is het grote bord Braga, een populaire plek voor selfies. Maar bewonder ook de prachtige architectuur als je hier bent.
Direct achter het bord staat de Igreja de São Marcos (Kerk van San Marco), die een kenmerkende bolle gevel heeft.
De architect uit Braga, Carlos Amarante, wordt toegeschreven aan een aantal emblematische werken van de nationale architectuur uit de 18e en 19e eeuw, gekenmerkt door de overgang van barok naar neoklassiek. Hiertoe behoren het heiligdom van Bom Jesus do Monte - dat in 2019 op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO staat -, de Trindadekerk in Porto (waar hij werd begraven) en het Brejoeirapaleis in Monção.
De lijst bevat ook het voormalige ziekenhuis en de kerk van São Marcos, gebouwd op het plein waar de ingenieur vandaag de dag zijn naam aan leent, in het hart van Braga.
