Trondheim ), històricament anomenada Kaupangen, Nidaros i Trondhjem, és una ciutat i municipi de Noruega, capital del comtat de Trøndelag. Té 198.219 habitants , i és, per tant, la tercera ciutat més poblada de Noruega i la quarta àrea metropolitana més poblada d'aquest país. Amb una superfície de 342,27 km², concentra fins a 260.000 habitants i la densitat de població de la ciutat és de 570/km², una de les més elevades de Noruega.
Trondheim es troba a la riba sud del fiord de Trondheim, a la desembocadura del Nidelva. La ciutat acull institucions com la Universitat Noruega de Ciència i Tecnologia i la SINTEF, i destaca també l'Hospital Universitari de Sant Olaf i d'altres. Com a capital de comtat, la ciutat és la seu del Consell de Sør-Trøndelag. L'alcaldessa és Rita Ottervik.
