Den hellige Sankt-Lieven eller Livinus, der skulle have levet i det 6. århundrede, viste sig efter undersøgelse at være en fiktiv figur, der blev opfundet i det 8. århundrede. I Sint-Baafs-klosteret i Gent blev liget af Livinus opbevaret. Men eftersom han ikke eksisterede, var det ikke liget af Sankt-Lieven. Motivet for klosteret skulle have været økonomisk gevinst, for sådan en tilbedelse af en berømt helgen indbragte en hel del penge.
