Kommunen Kranenburg ligger ved den nederste Niederrhein i nordvestlige Nordrhein-Westfalen og er en kommune, der hører til Kreis Kleve i regeringsområdet Düsseldorf. Den ligger ved den nederlandske grænse tæt på Nijmegen og er medlem af Euregio Rhein-Waal.
Store dele af kommuneområdet er ubeboet naturlandskab, i syd Reichswald, i nord Rheinniederung ved Düffel.
