Der Mozartplatz ist ein repräsentativer rechteckiger Platz in der Altstadt der Stadt Salzburg, der durch den Abbruch verschiedener Bürgerhäuser unter Wolf Dietrich von Raitenau 1588 planmäßig angelegt wurde. Über den Platz verlief rechtsufrig vom Universitätsplatz über den Alten Markt und den Residenzplatz die repräsentative Hauptverkehrsachse von West nach Ost, die mit dem Bau des Sigmundstores zusätzliche Bedeutung erhielt.
