Die Allgäuer Alpen sind eine Gebirgsgruppe der Nördlichen Ostalpen. Das Gebirge liegt östlich des Bodensees, prägt das Allgäu und hat eine Ausdehnung von etwa 75 km × 50 km.Anteil an den Allgäuer Alpen haben die Länder Deutschland mit dem Bundesland Bayern sowie Österreich mit den Bundesländern Vorarlberg und Tirol. Auf der Staatsgrenze liegt der südlichste Punkt Deutschlands in der Nähe des Haldenwanger Ecks, der auch das Dreiländereck Bayern – Tirol – Vorarlberg bildet.
