Grobbendonk macht sich 2024 mit einer Hühnerkampagne in den Weltmitteln bekannt. Die Gemeindeverwaltung von Grobbendonk startet das Projekt 'Froh über ein gesundes Ei.' Die Einwohner von Grobbendonk und Bouwel können vom lokalen Verwaltungsamt pro Adresse kostenlos zwei Hühner erhalten. Die Hühner müssen neben Getreide und Wasser hauptsächlich Küchen- und Biogutabfälle fressen. Sie müssen gut gepflegt in einem ordentlich Stall gehalten werden und auch mindestens ein Jahr lang gehalten werden. Wer kostenlose Hühner möchte, muss eine Art Vertrag unterzeichnen, dass er oder sie sich an diese Vereinbarungen halten wird.
Das Ziel? Hühner sollen helfen, den Berg von Biogutabfällen zu reduzieren. Die Eier sind ein Bonus.
"Ein Huhn kann jährlich etwa 50 kg Küchen- und Gartenabfälle verzehren", weiß Bartel Van Riet, der das Projekt mit unterstützt.
