Da es wahrscheinlich noch viele Fossilien hier in Bernissart im Boden gibt, hatte ein gewisser Pierre Capront aus dem nahegelegenen Stambruges die Idee, einen unterirdischen Freizeitpark zu bauen. Dabei könnte man mit kleinen Wagen die Kreidefossilien ansehen. Er gründete ein Kollektiv: "Recherche des Iguanodons", um Gelder zu sammeln. Doch sowohl die Regierung als auch die Einwohner reagierten lau: Letztere fürchteten Einstürze, falls erneut Iguanodons ausgegraben würden. Die Sponsoren blieben aus und der Plan starb einen stillen Tod.
