Das Naturschutzgebiet Thiewinkel liegt im westlichsten Teil des Laambeekvallei, an der Grenze der Gemeinden Lummen, Hasselt und Heusden-Zolder. Das Gebiet wird durch die E313 in zwei Teile geschnitten. Der westliche Teil dieser Autobahn ist eine charakteristische Kulturlandschaft mit Teichen, Gehölzen, Nadelwäldern und feuchten Wäldern. Der östliche Teil der Autobahn, besser bekannt als die Groene Delle, besteht hauptsächlich aus Wald. Das Naturschutzgebiet wird von der Naturvereinigung Limburgs Landschap vzw verwaltet.
